John began his ministry at Trinity at the beginning of July 2020, coming to Nanaimo from his home town of Calgary, where he had served at St. Matthew's United Church for six years. John is familiar with the island, having completed a year-long internship at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Victoria from 1994-1995, and is pleased to be returning. A graduate of Vancouver School of Theology, John has spent his 20+ years in ministry looking for and encouraging creativity in ministry, as the church is at its best when we respond to the needs of the community.
As part of that, and more recently, John has ventured into various forms of social media, most notably with his YouTube channel The Accessible Faith Project. This effort became particularly relevant during the COVID-19 Pandemic, adapting the channel to needs as they arose.
Trinity United Church acknowledges that we live out our ministry on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw and Snaw-naw-as First Nations.
