This weekend’s service of worship will be for the Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost. Midway through November—as we approach the end to one church-year and the start to another, our Gospel themes become decidedly more apocalyptic. An important dimension of the witness of the New Testament, apocalyptic is nevertheless the New Testament dimension most likely to make most of us most uncomfortable. There can be no evading, however, its stern and sobering word! But what might that word be for us today! Stay tuned!
